Salma Hayek, today snagging a spot in People’s “Most Beautiful” issue, is joking that she’s been upstaged by her pet owl Kering. The 54-year-old actress, known for featuring her unusual animal on her Instagram, today updated for her 17.7 million followers with a post alerting fans to her People feature, and she included Kering – the bird is named after billionaire husband François-Henri Pinault’s company, one that owns luxury brands including Gucci and Bottega Veneta. Salma’s Thursday post also included a video – check it out below

Scroll for the photo and video. Salma, who featured Kering in a Christmas 2020 post, was, in the video talking about her. The post opened with a photo of the “Frida” star looking gorgeous and shot in profile as she posed with Kering on her shoulder. Hayek had gone colorful and chic in a floral-print and frilly-shouldered top, one that was better seen as the Mexican appeared in video mode with a swipe-right.

“I love owls,” Salma said, revealing that Kering was a gift to her husband on Valentine’s Day.

The MCU actress, who went a little peasant-like in her criss-cross string blouse, added that her rescue owl has preferred resting places including her shoulders – she also confirmed naming her pet Kering after her husband’s company.

Taking to her caption, the “Bliss” star wrote: “So exited to be part of @PEOPLE most beautiful issue with my #owl Kering who completely upstaged me The issue hits newsstands tomorrow!!!!” with a giant shout-out to her glam team also made. See more photos after the video, where you can swipe.

Salma has opened up on her pets, including Kering, acquired in 2019. Speaking to TV personality Stephen Colbert, the actress revealed:

“I don’t know, I became obsessed with the owls and dreaming about it. And I didn’t understand, they were everywhere. And I said ‘can you even… can people have owls?’ And it turns out that you can, in London it’s legal.”

Salma’s owl may be living in glitz and glamor, but it turns out the star’s pet can hit gross. Referring to the time Kering ate a mouse off her head, Salma continued:

“It’s disgusting,” adding: “It’s the only time she’s ever done that. I mean, she’s amazing, because it’s a female. But, you know, sometimes they bring you gifts that you don’t necessarily know what to do with.”
