For many spectators, one of the most eagerly anticipated aspects of Thor: Love and Thunder was Natalie Portman’s return as Jane Foster. The actress obviously had a lot of enthusiasm for the role, and the addition of Mighty Thor to the film turned out to be a terrific complement. As thrilling as it all was, tragedy struck before the film came to a close: she succumbed to cancer.
The next time viewers see her after she dies is when her soul enters Valhalla and is welcomed there by none other than Idris Elba’s Heimdall. Is her story over now, or may she make another appearance later?
Portman has stated in the past that she is “open to everything,” so if the chance arose, she would probably be interested.
The actress has now spoken once more about her MCU destiny and, more specifically, about her surprising post-credits sequence.
Natalie Portman discussed Jane Foster’s journey to Valhalla in the post-credits scene, her future at Marvel, and the practicalities of several crucial moments in an interview with the D23 Insider Disney Podcast.
Portman responded that “it certainly feels like anything is conceivable” when asked if her time in the MCU was coming to an end, but she made it plain that she “[had] no insight into the answer to that.” It appears that not much has changed in Portman’s responses since she last discussed her future.
One of the most important aspects of Portman’s performance throughout filming turned out to be her height. Because the actress was nine inches shorter than the Mighty Thor should be, the production team had to create “extremely long platforms[s]” for her to walk on in various sequences.
What’s Natalie Portman’s MCU Future?
For a specific reason, the movie depicted Jane Foster entering Valhalla. For those who are familiar with the character from the comics, she did pass away from cancer, but before entering the Promised Land, Thor and Odin were able to revive her.
Jane eventually goes on to become a Valkyrie, which still serves as her present mantle in the pages of the original material, even though that obviously didn’t happen here. Given the kinship she shares with Tessa Thompson’s character in the film and the numerous allusions to the King of Asgard’s loneliness, it appears that Natalie Portman’s future is unavoidable.
