Canelo Narrowly Avoids Caleb Plant’s Blow And Responds Nastly

Canelo Alvarez is undoubtedly one of the finest and the best boxers in the world right now. He has won the top titles at light middleweight, middleweight, super middleweight, and even light heavyweight. You name the title, and he’s got it. The 168 pound Mexican boxer has caused most of the havoc at super middleweight. He’s won all but one of the major world titles.

The IBF version, which belongs to Plant, is the only belt he is yet to win. This can change shortly as the duo will square off on November 6th. It is the chance for Alvarez to become the first man to hold all four major organizations’ super-middleweight belts.

The duo met in person in a media briefing about the fight on Tuesday. Once they got on stage, things heated up quite quickly. Canelo shoved his challenger and then struck a blow that cut the American during the face-off, resulting in a melee.

Canelo might be the best in the world, but he does have a loss on his record. He had lost to Floyd Mayweather in his defense. On the other hand, Plant is yet to lose.

During the media briefing, the 29-year-old stated that he would remain undefeated. Then he turned to his opponent and asked, ‘Do you think that’s funny?’

Plant, as a result, got a bit aggressive, replied with a curse, and said that he’ll soon find out pretty soon (if it was funny or not).

He added, ”You know when you’re going to find out when everyone else finds out, and when that was? It was too late at that point.”

As he rose to his feet to assess his future competitor, who had only fought 21 times before, the Mexican had had enough.

The plant then referred to Alvarez as a “b**ch” and a “drug cheat.” Alvarez claimed that Plant was only trying to make excuses and pull off stunts before the bout. The plant may have won the rhetorical jousting on their first encounter, but he ended the fight with a cut to the face as Canelo dodged his blow and returned with one of his own.

All of this is happening just six weeks before the face-off. Only God knows what will happen when they meet face-to-face in the ring.
